During a “Nosh and Schmooze” in the sukkah members shared their thoughts about what they appreciated in regards to Synagogue of the Hills. Here are some of the expressions of appreciation;

  • I am grateful that for such a small Jewish community we have a wonderful group of people who care enough to have a synagogue, hold services, celebrate holidays and keep Judaism active and vibrant in our little corner of the world.
  • I am thankful for its very presence and the ablitity to ensure life cycle events.
  • I am thankful that the Synagogue of the Hills exists to serve as a center for Judaism in the Black Hills.
  • I am thankful for my community of Jewish people.
  • I am thankful for having a place to pray.
  • I am thankful for having Torah in my life.
  • I am thankful for the scenery.
  • I am thankful for our friends and friendships. Our celebrations as a community. A place to pray for people and family members who need our prayers.
  • I am thankful for the patience of the people who put up with my children during services.
  • I am thankful for the land surrounding the synagogue.
  • I am thankful to be in a small congregation. This has enabled/forced me to learn and do things I would not otherwise do.
